    Product Introduction
    The primary course at Kunming OCT Wind Valley has a more modern design, features more formal bunkering, and, as mentioned earlier, is closer to the water than the secondary course. The original holes were closer to the lake, but after construction, the government ordered them inland and a wetland buffer was installed between the golf course and the shoreline. The lack of interaction with the lake itself is only a minor disappointment, along with the nearby power plant that occasionally spoils the view.
    The golf is pretty solid, and will please those who enjoy playing Nicklaus designs. It starts off a bit slow as the holes play uphill, but then the path changes down and heads out to the lake. The perch green sites on the side hills of the long par-3 4th and 5th holes are highlights of the front nine, as are the views over the 6th green and from the tee of the downhill par-3 7th. The holes closest to the water are the standouts on the back nine.
    There are few surprises throughout the layout, but the bunkering and green construction is good, and there are pleasant views from several holes. Chinese players in particular are likely to enjoy this course.
    The OCT site was extremely challenging for both courses from the start, and the project suffered delays, construction overruns, and budget overruns over the years. Given the rocks, significant elevation changes, and the challenges of working in a place like China, the Nicklaus team and various construction managers did well to bring affordable golf to this part of Yunnan.

    Golf courses (ex, in Southeast Asia) typically proceed with rounds even in rainy conditions. In most cases, players temporarily take shelter from sudden downpours and then resume play. Therefore, unlike in Korea, cancellations or green fee refunds due to rain are not allowed. Please ensure you check in and follow the specific policies of each golf course (ex, rain coupons, etc).
